OUR NATIONAL STAFF

ANDREW KATAY

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Andrew is the CEO of City to City Australia, a church planting and leadership development agency linked to Tim Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York. This role enables him to work across denominational boundaries to be part of seeing a Gospel movement take hold of cities across Australia, which is a driving passion for Andrew.

Andrew is also the Senior Minister of Christ Church Inner West, a multi-site church in Sydney's Inner West, where he commenced over ten years ago. He has considerable experience in University ministries and has served as Chaplain to Sydney University.

He is married to Catriona and they have three adult children. The things that animate Andrew are sharing the Gospel, seeing God’s grace at work in the community of the Church as well as in the wider community through cultural renewal, and when he has time, a decent game of golf.

julie spring

Julie’s role as Executive Assistant at City to City Australia is to provide administrative support to the CEO. Julie has a varied professional background including teaching and midwifery. Bookending these positions has been employment in both church, corporate and Government administration. Julie hopes that her direct support of the CEO also supports the whole City to City team and its desire to see God’s church growing and flourishing throughout Australia.

Julie and her family returned to Sydney, Australia at the end of 2019 after living in Solomon Islands and Vanuatu for 6 years. Julie and Dave have two children and attend Christ Church Inner West where they love worshipping and serving with a wonderful bunch of other people who love Jesus!

Outside of working hours, Julie loves running, listening to music and enjoying tea and chocolate.

CHRIS SWANN

DIRECTOR OF CHURCH PLANTING AND COACHING

Chris loves working with those who serve Christ’s people in leadership. He is passionate about seeing them do this in ways that express a growing personal experience of the grace of the Lord Jesus, a humble confidence that all of life belongs to Christ, and a desire for spiritual fruitfulness and kingdom impact.

Before joining City to City, Chris helped to identify, raise up and equip Christian leaders in university student ministry, local churches, hospital chaplaincy, cross-cultural mission agency, and theological education roles. He is particularly stirred by the challenge of helping people take seriously the power, purpose, and presence of God’s grace in shaping their Christian lives and ministry. In this vein, his PhD in theology examined Karl Barth’s use of the language and imagery of discipleship in the context of his late doctrine of sanctification.

Chris lives in Melbourne’s Inner North with his wife Natalie and two school-age kids, where they are part of a local Anglican church.

ANNA BOXWELL

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CHURCH PLANTING

Rev. Anna Boxwell focuses on helping the Church Planting department strategically develop our offerings in assessment, training, coaching, and resourcing of planters, potential planters, and their teams. Anna is one of the planting pastors of an Anglican church in Canberra, and appreciated the training and support she and their team received from City to City in planting. She has led the development and delivery of courses and ordination formation training for St Mark’s National Theological Centre. Anna loves spending time with her husband and their four boisterous children at her parents’ farm. Her ministry training was from Moore Theological College, with a thesis exploring the theological ethics of embryo donation and adoption, and from St Mark’s National Theological Centre.

Anna is particularly interested in the way God’s grace to us in Jesus Christ helps us change and grow; pastoring people experiencing infertility and navigating assisted reproductive technologies; leadership and discipleship; and coming alongside the many great churches and ministries in the Canberra region, seeking to share Jesus in the most secular city in Australia. Anna loves teaching and training and watching those ‘ah-ha!’ moments our planters and pastors have during training sessions as we read our culture, our hearts, and our Bible with one another.

adrian tam

assistant director of church planting

Adrian is our Assistant Director of Church Planting, focussing on our flagship cohort program for church planters and church planting residents. Having planted a church in Sydney himself some years ago with help from City to City, where he had the opportunity to attend a month-long intensive in NYC in 2016, he considers it a privilege to now be able to guide and coach other planters on a similar journey. Adrian brings to the team a broad-based skill set and a diverse range of experiences, ranging from corporate law, local church pastoring and teaching scripture in high schools. He is also (slowly!) working his way towards a Masters of Theology.

Adrian lives in the lower north shore of Sydney with his wife Jess and three young children. They are on the leadership team of Glow Church Sydney, which is part of the ACC.
